What is this drug?

Oseltamivir is a highly efficient medicine that is used for the treatment of some types of influenza. Generic Tamiflu acts as a block to influenza virus types A and B in the human body. Important note: do not use Generic Tamiflu if you suffer from cold.

What should I inform my health care provider of prior to taking this medicine?

You have to inform your health care provider if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

• immune system disorders
• heart failure
• kidney illness
• liver problems
• chronic lung illnesses
• an extraordinary or allergic reaction to foods, dyes, medicine or other substances.
• you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
• you are a breast-feeding mother

What are the dosage instructions for this drug?

You should carefully follow the instructions on the prescription label. Make sure you use Generic Tamiflu immediately you've felt the first flu symptoms. The medicine must be taken orally with water or food. For the treatment to be complete you should use the medicine for the full course. Do not stop taking it if the situation changes for the better in 2 or 3 days.

Influenza symptoms treatment: take 1 capsule twice a day; full course - 5 days.

To prevent influenza: take 1 capsule once a day; full course - 10 days.

Important note: the prescriptions given in this label are designed on the average and do not take the individual features of your body into account. Please follow your health care provider instructions carefully.

Generic Tamiflu for children: the drug may be used for children over 1 year only. It is important to consult your pediatrician and take the necessary precautions.

Overdosage: if you fell you have taken too much of this medication contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTE: this medicine has been prescribed for you only. Do not give this medicine to others.

What types of medicine may have negative interaction with Generic Tamiflu?

Do not take Generic Tamiflu together with a nasal flu vaccine (FluMist). If you are intended to use the nasal vaccine, make sure you take it 48 hours past taking Generic Tamiflu.

It is absolutely necessary to inform your heath care provider of all the medicines, non-prescription drugs or other supplements you are taking. Make sure to also inform your doctor if you smoke, consume alcohol, or take illegal drugs. These may affect the efficiency of treatment.

What should I keep in mind when taking this medicine?

You should get regular examinations from your health care provider. If you do not feel better or are beginning to feel worse, inform your doctor immediately.

It is important: if you have the infection you take more risks of attacks, confusion or extraordinary behaviour. Such things are more common among children and teenagers and do not occur very often. Still the patient may hurt him or herself, so the caregivers should consult the doctor immediately at the first signs of extraordinary behaviour.

What are side effects of taking this medicine?

You must inform you health care provider immediately if you face the following side effects:

• unusual or allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, face swelling or others,
• extraordinary behaviour, nervousness,
• attacks or seizures,
• breathing disorders,
• non-adequate perception of reality,
• sweetening, peeling or loosening of the skin

The following is the list of the side effects that generally do not need medical intervention, therefore you should inform your doctor only if the symptoms persist:

• dizziness
• indigestion
• bad cough
• vomiting
• stomach aches
• repeated headaches

The list presented above doesn't cover all the possible side effects. Make sure to have regular examinations from your doctor to provide proper treatment.

What are the storage instructions for this medicine?

Keep out of reach of children.

This medicine should be kept at room temperature (between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius and 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit). The container where the medicine is kept should be tightly closed. Any unused medicine should be thrown away past the expiration date.

What is the drug's expiry date?

The expiry date of Generic Tamiflu is generally 2 years from the date of production. It varies for different batches depending on the date of production. The expiry date is stamped on each blister.
