What are the use instructions for this medicine?

Chloramphenicol capsules are recommended for taking by mouth. The instructions on the prescription label should be followed carefully. The medicine should be taken at defined intervals through the day and night; the best intervals are every 6 hours around the clock. The medicine should be taken with a full glass of water. Please be sure to take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals; the effect of the medicine is reduced while taking it simultaneously with meals. It is not recommended to take the medicine more often than prescribed. You should be sure to take all the quantity of the medicine prescribed even if you feel evident improvement. You should not stop using he medicine until your health care provider advised you to do so.

What if I find I have missed a dose?

If you find you have missed a dose, be sure to take it asap. If you find about the missed dose at the time for your next dose, take one dose only. Double or extra doses are not recommended.

What drug(s) may cause interaction with chloramphenicol?

Inform your care provider about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, and any other herbal products. Also necessarily inform your health care provider if you use alcohol drinks, and if your are smoking or using illegal drugs. These factors may have affect on the way the medicine works. What side effects should be observed while taking chloramphenicol?

Gray-baby" syndrome can be observed in the children up to the age of 2. Symptoms include appetite loose, paleness and a blue or gray skin color, as well as hard breathing.
