What is the difference between generic pills and generic medication?

There is no difference; these concepts are identical (synonyms).

What is the difference between generic pills and original ones?

The difference is inessential: (1) the technological process is somewhat different; (2) generics contain the same active chemical agents as original medicine along with differing inactive ingredients; (3) generics differ in form, colour and flavour. Thus, generics have nearly one and the same chemical structure as their original counterparts, but they differ in form, colour and flavour.

Why are generic pills cheaper than innovative brand name pills?

Patented medicine is more expensive because of several factors: (1) innovative brand-name pills require great amounts of money (from hundreds of millions of dollar to billions) and time (nearly 10-15 years); (2) proving the safety and efficiency of said medicine is very costly; (3) more so, good advertising techniques are quite costly as well.

What are the outstanding differences between regular pills and pills with "SR, ER, XR, XL, TR, CR" abbreviations?

Sustained-release (SR), extended-release (ER, XR, or XL), time-release or timed-release, controlled-release (CR), or continuous-release (CR or Contin) pills represent tablets or capsules which are produced for slow dissolving and release a drug over time. The most outstanding advantages of sustained-release tablets or capsules lie in their comparatively less frequent use than instant-release formulations of the same drug, and that's alongside keeping unfaltering levels of the medicine in the bloodstream. Sustained-release tablets are produced so that the active components are added into a matrix of insoluble essence (some acrylics, even chitin, generally patented) so that the dissolving drug could find its way out via the holes in the matrix.

In certain SR formulations the matrix physically rises up to form a gel, so that the medicine has first dissolve in the matrix and then exit via the outer surface.

There is certain scrutiny for the formation of protracted release formulation: In the case of the active component having a long half-life (over six hours), it is sustained on its own.

If the pharmacological activity of the active component is not related to its blood levels, timed release has no meaning at all.

If the absorption of the active compound includes an active transport, the relevant development of a time-release medicine can cause certain problems.

In the end, if the active component has a short half-life, it would certainly require a sufficient extent to keep up a protracted effective drug dose. A broad therapeutic window is essential for escaping toxicity; if not, the risk is unwarranted and requires a different method of administration.

The existing difference between manageable release and sustained release lies in controlled release which is a perfect zero order release; the drug releases over time not dependent of concentration. Sustained release suggests slow release of the medicine over a period of time. It may or may not occur as controlled release.
