Clamidiosis: widespread and very dangerous

Clamidiosis is one of the most widespread sexually transmitted infections – it causes sterility not only among women but also among men. Spanish scientists have found out that chlamydia damage the genetical structure of spermatozoa worsening sperm quality.

According to the Paediatrician Union, only in the last 5 years the frequency of gynaecological and andrological diseases among children of all ages has increased in 1.5 times.

Over 50 % of teenagers have different diseases which may further restrict to the possibility of having children. In the recent years clamidiosis has widely spread, and this means that reproductive health of many youngsters is under the threat, as acute infections endured in the childhood may directly influence the formation of  women’s as well as men’s sterility.

Among adult population one third of women and about half of men of active sexual age (from 16 to 40) suffer from chlamydia infection. Clamidiosis contamination more often transmits sexually. The probability of contamination during unprotected coitus is 70 – 90 %. According to various sources, more than 1.5 million people acquire clamidiosis in this country, but clamidiosis is not often diagnosed because of the difficulties of its diagnostics.

The problem is that clamidiosis may progress asymptomatically or disguise itself as some other disease. A person thinks that he has conjunctivitis, arthritis, or heart troubles, but the real cause of all that is clamidiosis. Spanish scientists have proved that the treatment of chlamydia infection with the help of antibiotics can improve men’s fertility. 13% of the pair succeeded to conceive at the beginning of the treatment, and 86 % conceived after the full course of antibiotic treatment. Well, what is Lyme disease and why does it have such an exotic name? The thing is it was first mentioned in the city of Lyme, a city in the USA, Connecticut.

Lyme disease or mite-born borreliosis (after the name of bacteria Borellia, spirochete type) is a disease caused by spirochetes and transmitted by the mites Ixodes dammini. A/H1N1 Influenza Virus Has a Laboratorial Origin

A/H1N1 Influenza virus, which has already stricken down 61 people and nearly six thousand people have been taken ill can have a laboratorial origin. Adrian Gibbs, an Australian scientist who studies the virus genome, has come to this conclusion. His point of view is corroborated by a strong strain mutation which is impossible under time in nature. On Thursday Belgium joined the list of the countries where A/H1N1 was registered.

The escape of influenza A/H1N1 virus from the laboratory is one of the most probable causes of its spread on the territory of North America, according to Adrian Gibbs, the virologist from Canberra State University.

“The assumption that the virus has been evolved in vitro as a result of an unintentional mistake of the staff is the simplest explanation”.

According to the researcher, the version of the laboratorial origin of the influenza virus is corroborated by the evident differences of its genomes from those of renowned Swine influenza viruses circulating in nature. According to the results of the research work conducted, the number of the mutations revealed in new A/H1N1 virus is three-four times over than that of similar strains.

“To collect such a great number of genetic differences the virus should have been circulated in nature for some years, though till this April it hasn’t been met by virologists, Adrian Gibbs said. – So the assumption that the new virus has been evolved in vitro in some virology laboratory as a result of a unintentional mistake of the staff is the simplest explanation to this”.

According to the scientist, he is now editing some new material about possible origin of A/H1N1 influenza virus and is sure that it’ll provoke vigorous debate in the scientific community as other existing hypothesis did.

“The quicker we sort out the question, the earlier we can protect the humankind against the pandemic”, the A/H1N1 Virus researcher from the southern hemisphere pointed out.

At the same time in the northern hemisphere, according to the data presented by the WHO, among the six countries – the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization only in Russia and Сhina it is possible to make the right diagnosis about the presence of influenza A/H1N1 in the samples of sick men, the BBC reports to quote the GM of State Centre of Virology and biotechnology James Brown.

“Unfortunately, today the WHO is proclaiming only two states of the six members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – China and Russia. These two states are acknowledged today to be able to perform the proper analysis to find out H1N1 influenza in the samples of sick men and people who died of flu”, Brown says.

According to him, it’s principally important for Russia that other countries, the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, could do this.

“It’s generally known that is maintaining the projects on the official qualifying of the leading laboratories of the world on their readiness to make the right diagnosis, on their readiness to prognosticate the course of epidemic in separate national states. On Thursday Belgium joined the blackhole list of the countries where sick men having Swine influenza were registered, and the authorities of the country affirmed the first case of А/H1N1 infection, Reuters reports.

As of Wednesday the WHO admitted 5,728 cases of A/H1N1infection in 33 states, including 61 cases with lethal outcome.

Thus, in Mexico 56 cases with lethal outcome are confirmed, three cases in the USA, one in Canada and one in Costa Rica. The cases of disease are confirmed in Argentina, Australia, Brasil, China, Columbia, Denmark, Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Great Britain.

In France Scientists Have Almost Invented the Medicine against Cancer

In France scientists have almost invented against cancer – a molecule blocking the reproduction of cancer cells.

The group of scientists under the guidance of CNRS synthesized in vitro a molecule which can block the reproduction of cancer cells and prevent the forming of vessels providing them with nutrients. The specialized “Plos One” magazine tells about this in the last issue, CNN reports.

According to the assessments of experts, the new preparation preliminary named HB-19, offers a wide challenge for curing oncological diseases. Besides, the derived medicine is deprived of the main side effect of the majority of modern anticancer preparations, which substantially worsen the treatment prognosis – toxicity, as it is said in the scientific report.

As it is noted by Ara Hovanessyan, one of the heads of the research, at the moment the effectiveness of the preparation is tested on mice and the culture of tissues taken from people suffering from prostate, mammary, intestine and skin tumour.

Another head of the project, the director of CNRS of study, Jose Cartie derived molecule has a destructive impact on the protein elementing the cancer molecule inhibiting its reproduction.

The scientist explains that one more mechanism of the molecule impact on a malignant formation is the oppression of angiogenesis, i.e. the formation of the vessels of cancer cells, which leads to oxygen and nutrients impoverishment and, as the result, to its destruction.

The researches are sure that the double effect of the experimental molecule makes it indispensable for treatment principle oncological diseases, and the offered methodology of synthesis allows to start the mass production of the preparation without peculiar problems.

The Hormone of Strain is Amenable to Control

Due to the effort of scientists hydrocortisone is known to us as the hormone, taking part in the regulation of carbohydrate, protein, and adipose metabolism in the organism, blood pressure and immune system work under a great strain. Although the state of constant and lingering stress can provoke the excessive output of this hormone that results in the fact that hydrocortisone is able to cause sleep disturbance, make us more subject to infections, provoke the increase of blood sugar and lead to uncontrolled gaining weight.

In Sean Talbot’s article in the recent issue of “Prevention” magazine the methods of controlling hydrocortisone level were described.

Moreover, these methods can fully realized in practice on minimum conditions. Some simple methods, such as a cup of black tea, laughter, good music, meditation and healthy sleep, help to prevent stress conditions and excessive output of hydrocortisone.

Sean Talbot based his findings on the data got during the research work. Thus, when the volunteers were given a difficult task, during an hour the level of hydrocortisone was 47% down among those who had drunk black tea and only 27% down among those who hadn’t. Among those who had watched a funny film the level of strain hormone lowered by about a half. Music, which was heard in the background in the stress condition, produced analogous calming and stimulating effect.

Besides, the researcher emphasized that the level of hydrocortisone and blood pressure lowered among those who had undergone the course of Thai meditation. The author advises to pay special attention to sleep regimen – the difference in the level of the hormone considered is 50 % among those who sleep 6 and 8 hours a day! So, if you haven’t managed to go to bed in time, you should have a nap in the afternoon in order not to expose your health to unnecessary risk.
